It is the intention of this site to capture and document the history of my family and the family of my wife. We come from two fairly different backgrounds as far as ancestry. I am descended on my father's side from mostly early New England settlers and what I would term "near-pioneers", that group individuals who weren't the very first to settle in areas, but were among those who followed closely after and helped tame the land. My mother's lineage was a mix, on her father's side, of early southern farmers and, on her mother's side, of late nineteenth century Austrio-Hungarian immigrants.

My wife, on the other hand, has a paternal lineage that is strongly Irish with most of those ancestors showing up in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and participating in the political and ethnic "melting pot" that was New York City at the turn of the century. Her maternal lineage consists primarily of German and Swiss immigrants of the early 19th century and earlier, settling in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana.

My hope is to preserve the rich variety and experience of these families and make them available to our daughters, so that they can appreciate and be proud of the part their family has taken in the weaving of the American tapestry.
